"Strength & Compassion"

Oil on Canvas

Size: 30" x 40"

Liberty is an ideal that has been pursued by many individuals through history, protected by the sacrifice of many more and enjoyed today by us all. We should be eternally grateful that there were great men, who used their strength and influence to extend compassion to those less fortunate. Breaking through the bounds of slavery and the oppression of tyranny, our Country has a colorful history, which we should never forget. In this paining we can observe the symbolism of the broken shackles, suspended between the hands of Abraham Lincoln. One hand is clenched symbolizing strength, while the other is relaxed representing compassion. As you admire this painting, you will continue to decipher the many layers of symbolism that pay tribute to that great man and at the same time encourage us to be compassionate, regardless of how much power we enjoy.
