Throughout art history,
mothers have been portrayed as loving, caring and nurturing. One of the
most beautiful works of art depicting a mother is Michelangelo’s Pieta.
Despite the anguish of holding her son’s lifeless body in her lap, her
face still shows those tender characteristics of a mother. This Mosaic
Impressionism painting seems to only include a random array of colored
blocks; however, when viewed from a distance or by squinting the eyes, the
face of The Virgin Mary is revealed. |
