The painting titled
"Early Influence" by the artist Juan “One” Sepúlveda is a tribute to a man
who had an early influence in many people, businesses and industries. From
his early influence in the development of plastic food storage products to
his influence upon direct sales, Earl Tupper has set an example for
innovators and business people alike.
The artist, Juan “One” Sepúlveda, was inspired to create this painting to
commemorate the early influence, which Earl Tupper had on him. While
growing up, the artist didn’t know that many of the toys with which he
played were made by Tupperware. It wasn't until 2001, when he began
working for Tupperware headquarters in Orlando, Florida, that he realized
how much more his life had been influenced by the legacy of Earl Tupper.
In the painting, the image in the background is a Mosaic Impressionism
portrait of Earl Tupper. The Mosaic Impressionism is a signature technique
used by Juan “One” Sepúlveda, in which many individually painted blocks of
color are used to create the illusion of a mosaic. This meticulously
arranged mosaic, when looked at from a distance or by squinting the eyes,
reveals a portrait of the subject. This original painting is almost 4 feet
tall, which enhances the illusion when viewed in person. These blocks of
color which together form a complex image can be looked at as a metaphor
for the building blocks necessary to create a successful enterprise,
similar to the legacy left behind by Earl Tupper.
This painting has formed part of various exhibitions through Central
Florida and its currently part of the artist’s private collection. Other
Mosaic Impressionism paintings by Juan “One” Sepúlveda include other
individuals who have been influential to his life and career, like his
Mother, Jesus and the surrealist artist Salvador Dali. |
