"Cancer Battle"

In the painting “Cancer Battle” the artist uses a grotesque mass to represent cancer. The shining sword represents our efforts to fight against this seemingly invincible enemy. The artist chose a sphere as the shape of the cancer mass to emphasize the erroneous assumption that cancer has no end. However, our efforts against cancer break that continuity and can bring an end to this devastating disease. The eye in the center represents a person who fights against cancer or someone who remembers the loss of a loved one. The barren lands symbolize the span of life and the chasm represents a devastating situation, like the loss of a loved one. The artist was inspired to create this piece shortly after losing his mother to breast cancer in 2004.
